Jamie xx – Far Nearer (Forthcoming single on NMBRS Label)

The xx’s Jamie Smith will be releasing a solo single on the electronic music label NMBRS in the next couple of months.

The song ‘Far Nearer’ was premiered in September on the radio program X-Posure with John Kennedy.

Taken from an as-yet-untitled project, the song features another brilliant 2-step referencing rhythm with melancholic garage vocal samples and steel-drum melodic elements.

[The song begins after a brief interview extract around 0.46]

Download: Deerhunter – Helicopter (Diplo & Lunice Remix)

One of the standout songs from Deerhunter’s brilliant new album Halycon Digest has been remixed by prolific DJs and producers Diplo and Lunice. The resulting rework of Helicopter remains faithful to the languid, melancholic original, while updating the track with some heavier bass, blissed-out synths, and some intricate electronic percussion.

Anika – Yang Yang (Stones Throw Records)

Anika is the latest signing to the pioneering LA label Stones Throw, also home to Madlib, Mayer Hawthorne, Dam-Funk and numerous other musical luminaries.

A political journalist, moving between Bristol and Berlin, Anika met Geoff Barrow (of Portishead, and Beak>) earlier this year and the two soon realised a shared love of punk, dub, and 60s girl groups. Twelves days in a recording studio later and Anika, the self-titled debut, was complete.

Yang Yang is the incendiary first cut to be released from the album, due for physical release in December and digital release in November.
